Web3 Browser
2022 | Coinbase
Designed a dapp browser and MPC wallet inside the Coinbase app — onboarding 20M users to web3 across 130+ countries.
Problem
Making web3 accessible to general crypto investors in Coinbase. Most self-custody wallets required seed phrases, complex multi-app flows, and technical literacy that locked out mainstream users.

Why Wallet and Browser?
Web3 wallets enable asset custody and identity verification. Browsers sync with wallets, creating gateways for dapp transactions and activities like NFT trading, DEX swaps, DeFi participation, and DAO membership. Combining both inside the main Coinbase app eliminated the need for users to switch between apps or manage separate credentials.

Security — MPC Wallet
Implemented MPC (multi-party computation) technology eliminating seed phrase risks inherent in traditional self-custody wallets. Users can recover wallets using Coinbase credentials — removing the single biggest barrier to non-custodial adoption.

Usability — Dapp Browser
Reduced transaction steps by consolidating wallet and browser within the main app, enabling seamless fiat onboarding and eliminating cross-app fund transfers. Features included auto-switching networks, human-readable sign-in and transaction requests, and simplified onboarding experiences.

Coinbase Wallet Redesign (Browser Experience)
I participated in the redesign of the Coinbase Wallet app, as the design Point-of-contact for the browser experience. Wallet redesign and rewrite was a culmination of a strategic shift in priorities for making web3 front and center for Wallet. The browser plays an integral role here for dapp discovery and engagements.

Outcome
As of March 2023, the MPC wallet had reached widespread adoption. Co-led the Coinbase Wallet app redesign, focusing on browser experience integration and dapp discovery on coinbase.com/web3.
